A recollection of Téa and Conor’s wedding
Canal Winchester, Ohio is my home town so I have driven past Blystone Farm many, many times. Anytime I’d drive past the farm I would imagine it as a wedding venue. I mean, it had ample parking, a beautiful barn, so much open land, and most importantly, cows! The possibilities would be endless!
Needless to say, it was surreal when Téa emailed me and told me that she and Conor would be holding their wedding at The Barn at Blystone Farm. A few years prior, I had photographed the wedding of Téa’s brother, who was a friend of mine from school. I cheerfully accepted when she asked me to photograph her wedding day, too!
Decorating The Barn at Blystone Farm
The day had arrived and I was so ready to get started! Téa and Conor have more of an alternative rock vibe to them so I was VERY curious to see how they decorated a rustic barn. Long story short, my mind was blown. Who would have thought a barn in the middle of a pasture could turn into a moody, romantic, and magical dream castle? Téa certainly did.
Getting ready at The Barn at Blystone Farm
Getting ready spaces come in all shapes and sizes. We’ve worked with couples at Airbnb’s, hotels, in their own homes, dark spaces, light spaces, and even teeny tiny, or as I’d like to call them, intimate spaces!
The Barn at Blystone Farm provided comfortable getting-ready spaces for both the bride and groom. Téa got ready inside of a cozy rustic home on the property, while Conor prepared for his trek down the aisle inside of the spacious barn. It really seemed to fit their personalities, too. Conor was movin’ and groovin’ all over the place while Téa kept her cool and practiced deep breaths on a cushy couch.
Getting married
Téa and Conor requested a bit of tradition on their wedding day. They opted to hold their first look for walking down the aisle. And while I think that was absolutely perfect for them, a more private pre-ceremony reveal was necessary for Téa and her father. The tears were real and the hugs were everlasting.
Although the skies looked a little mischievous in the distance, the bride and groom decided to keep their ceremony outdoors. The heavy clouds really began to roll in shortly after Téa met Conor at the altar. Uniquely, we all stayed dry for the entire length of the ceremony.
Portraits at The Barn at Blystone Farm
At the conclusion of the ceremony, we all met on the back patio to begin family portraits. It wasn’t until Brett and I started directing said family portraits that the skies decided they were full. Thankfully, Jaclyn, The Barn at Blystone Farm’s phenomenal wedding coordinator, was prepared for this monsoon and provided the entire wedding party with clear top umbrellas.
Celebrating
With full bellies and bursting hearts, all of the guests made their way to the dance floor. Scattered reflections of twinkle lights bouncing off of a dewy patio were the only evidence that was left behind from the storm. As we made our way around the dance floor it was evident just how much love enveloped Téa and Conor. I am sure the restaurant across the property heard their laughter and cheers well into the night!
In conclusion, The Barn at Blystone Farm went above and beyond all expectations in making sure Téa and Conor had a kickass wedding day. Who would have thought a barn in the middle of a pasture could turn into a moody, romantic, and bohemian dream castle?
