Best Columbus Engagement photo locations

When it comes to choosing a location for your engagement photos, there are a few things to consider. What are you wanting to express through your engagement photos? What is your vibe as a couple? Are you outgoing or reserved? Are you planning on having an outfit change? Because this will be an opportunity to really connect with your photographer before the big day, you’ll want to be 100% comfortable in the location that you choose. And, with so many locations to choose from in the Columbus area, it can be an overwhelming decision! For this reason, I have compiled a list of what I believe to be the best engagement photo locations in Columbus, Ohio.

1. Inniswood Garden Engagement Photos

Inniswood Garden in Westerville, Ohio, is definitely a top pick when it comes to engagement photos. Romantic, timeless, and easily accessible are a few things that come to mind when I think of this location. Inniswood Garden has a boardwalk surrounded by trees, a winding path running parallel to a rocky stream, and some of the most beautiful flowers and plants in the city.

Still unsure if Inniswood Garden would be a good fit for your engagement session? Check the vibe meter below:

2. Hoover Reservoir Engagement Photos

Like Inniswood Garden, Hoover Reservoir is also located in Westerville, Ohio. If you envision you and your future spouse roaming through a pine tree forest for your engagement photos, Hoover Reservoir is the best location for you! But wait, there’s more; On the other side of the reservoir, you will find docks, water access, and beautiful views. Words do not do this place justice. I find myself photographing all kinds of sessions at Hoover Reservoir often!

3. German Village Engagement Photos

Located right outside of downtown Columbus you will find a charming little neighborhood known as German Village. With its old English architecture and brick roads, German Village certainly fills every portrait with warm tones. If you want something cozy, fun, and a little out of the box, German Village may be the best engagement photo location for you!

4. The Short North Engagement Photos

Located in the heart of downtown Columbus, The Short North does not disappoint. The Short North offers city views, large murals, and the hustle and bustle of city life. Not to mention, there is a ton of variety because Goodale Park is just a short walk away! If you want to swing casual & formal on the same day – you’ve got to choose Goodale Park & Short North for your engagement session!

5. Sycamore Creek Park Engagement Photos

Sycamore Creek Park in Pickerington, Ohio is a hidden gem to many. The creek‘s water is usually pretty low and easy to get to. Walking through it, on the other hand, can be a bit uncomfortable. Water shoes, crocs, or flip flops are highly encouraged but, no worries, they can be tossed aside easily! There is also a covered bridge, plenty of trees, and a few open fields.

6. Old Man’s Cave Engagement Photos

If hiking is a part of your pastime then this engagement photo location is a no-brainer! Old Man’s Cave in Logan, Ohio is for the adventurous bride & groom to be. Be prepared to lose track of time while trekking a few miles deep into the caves, and bring plenty of water. Speaking of water, did I mention there are waterfalls? Old Man’s Cave is great to shoot in all year round, although it can be dangerous (albeit, beautiful) during the winter months.

7. The Village of Canal Winchester Engagement Photos

The Village of Canal Winchester is near and dear to my own heart! Canal Winchester is my home town so I know it like the back of my hand. If you prefer to keep things sweet, cozy, and quaint this is definitely the spot for you. I recommend the village to anyone who is a fan of romance novels and whimsy. Side note: this cute little town is gorgeous in fall!
